So what is The Center of Somewhere, anyway?
The Center of Somewhere is an all-ages comedy comic strip that updates every day, Monday through Friday.
All ages? I hate kids stuff!
I didn’t say this was just for kids. It’s all ages, which means it’s safe for kids but has plenty of jokes for adults, too. Have you ever seen a Pixar movie? Sorta like that. Only not as sad as Toy Story 3. Dang, that ending gets me.
Who does this comic star?
It stars boy detective Nick Charles Malloy, diner owner Kim Cho, talking animals Fingullet Fish, Oakland Squirrel, and Blue J. Turbo, and a forest full of ghosts.
That’s it? Just them? Are there going to be any other characters?
You’re kinda greedy, aren’t you? Local superhero Snuggie Bear, unlicensed veterinarian Doc Shmitty, and professional tourist Brunhilde Lizard show up every so often, and other characters appear as needed, but for the most part we focus on the characters I’ve already mentioned. Which is really a lot, if you think about it.
What’s this strip about?
Nick, Kim, Fingullet, Oakland, Turbo, and the ghosts living life and having fun in a Middle American small town.
So the strip takes place in the Midwest somewhere? Like Indiana or Missouri?
When I say “Middle America,” I mean the concept more than any particular place. It’s an unnamed small town somewhere in America that encapsulates what people think of when they hear the words “Middle America.” Only with talking animals and wacky adventures. I actually know exactly where it takes place, but I ain’t telling.
Anything else we should know?
No, that’s about it.
Who are you?
I’m Luke Foster. I write and draw this strip, and was also the cartoonist of Moon Freight 3, Drawn Away: A Cartoonist Tours America, and The Gang From the Store: True Tales From the Comic Book Shop.
How do we know we can trust you?
What do you mean? Look at me! I’ve got boy-next-door charm!
